We introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for clients from 18 November to provide extra protection against unauthorised account access.
Now, when clients access their accounts online or call CFS, they will be prompted to verify their identity with a one-time pin (OTP) sent to their registered mobile number or email address.
MFA will be introduced on the mobile app in early December.
If your client’s mobile number and email address are not up to date, they will need to call us and prove their identity in another way to gain access to their account. When they call, we’ll update their contact details so we can verify them via MFA the next time they try to access their account.
Any third-party authorities attached to client accounts will also need to ensure their details are up to date. This does not include adviser third-party authorities.
To ensure your clients continue to have uninterrupted access to their accounts, let them know it’s important to keep their contact details up to date.
The CFS Privacy Policy explains how we use client data and there’s more information on staying safe online for your clients on our website.
Thank you for your support as we prepare to enhance client account security.
