The following table outlines the four main concession cards issued by Centrelink and whether the partner or dependent children are listed on the card. If listed on the card, partners and dependent children are generally eligible for Commonwealth concessions such as reduced cost medicines through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
It’s important to note however that eligibility for concessions provided by State and Territory governments and private businesses are at the discretion of the individual organisation. In some cases, a concession may not be available to a partner or dependent child even if they are listed on the card.
The table below also lists how long the concession card is valid and the process for renewal.
It’s important to note that partners and dependent children are not listed on a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card and are not eligible for concessions through the card.
A partner may wish to apply for a concession card such as the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card in their own name.
